Wenona June Wright, lovingly known as June, passed away on June 20, 2026, at the age of 68. June was the kind of person who left every life she touched a little brighter. Kind, supportive, loving, compassionate, humble, and deeply selfless, she rarely had an unkind word to say about anyone. Despite the countless lives she touched and the tremendous good she did for others, she never sought recognition or praise. Her generosity of spirit was one of her defining qualities, and she gave of herself freely, always placing the needs of others before her own. To know June was a joy; to be loved by her was a blessing; and to be part of her family was a treasure beyond words.
A lifelong caregiver, June dedicated much of her life to serving others. Caring for children with disabilities was her true passion. She spent many years working in the caregiving field, including her service with Life Conservation, where she cared for adults with Down syndrome. She also devoted many summers as a camp counselor for children with disabilities and later worked as a personal attendant, caring for elderly and disabled individuals until her retirement. Her work was never simply a job—it was a reflection of her compassionate heart and her desire to make a difference in the lives of those around her.
June found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, crafting, making jewelry, watching British television programs, and tending to her flower beds. She was a mentor and friend to countless neighborhood children, generously sharing her creativity, wisdom, and encouragement. June was truly a lover of people—a humanitarian who shared love, compassion, and wisdom with all who knew her.
Her unwavering faith as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses was the guiding force of her life. It shaped her values, strengthened her through life’s challenges, and inspired her devotion to family, friends, and community. Family was always her highest priority, and she loved deeply and wholeheartedly.
June was preceded in death by her father, William H. Nave; her sister, Kathy Houck; her brother-in-law, David Houck; her sister-in-law, Marcy Nave; and her brother, Jerry Sullivan.
She is survived by her mother, Ida Rebecca Nave; her beloved husband, Mark Andrew Wright; her children, Christian Lee Ison (Andrew), Victor von Bernewitz Wright, Elise Fonseca (Jesus), and Amy von Bernewitz Wright Ruhlman (Sean); her grandchildren, Gabriella Long, Aaron Long, Angela Bay von Bernewitz Wright, Alexis Grace von Bernewitz Wright, Henry Andrew von Bernewitz Wright, Haley Eve Fonseca, Michael Jesus Fonseca, Bryan Fonseca, Benjamin Martin Ruhlman, and Ella Paige Ruhlman; and her siblings, Elizabeth Johnson (Nicholas), William Nave, Grace Marshall (Rick), Shannon Hardy (Greg), Jewell McGill (John), Sam Nave (Barbara), and Sammy Wright (Robin). She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish her memory forever.
A celebration of June’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Laurel Hill Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 10127 Plank Road, Spotsylvania, Virginia 22553. Interment will immediately follow at Nave Family Cemetery on Route 3 in King George, Virginia.
Though she is no longer by our side, she will remain forever in our hearts. Her love continues to be our light, and her legacy of kindness, service, faith, and unconditional love will live on through all who knew and loved her. Until we meet again. ❤️
