William "Bill" L. DeLozier, 84, of Locust Grove, passed away Saturday May 25, 2013 at his home with his family by his side.
Bill was born on June 21, 1928 to Louis and Irene May DeLozier in North Braddock, Pa. He enlisted at age 17 in the U.S. Coast Guard, serving from 1945 to 1946. Bill joined the Navy in 1947 leaving it for the the US Army in 1948, serving until June 1952, stationed in Japan and Korea. He married Janet R. Ferree on Jan. 16, 1953 in Braddock, Pa. Bill retired from Pa. State Employment Office after over 25 years of service, in 1991. He and Janet moved to the Lake of the Woods area of Locust Grove that same year,
where he was an active member of the Lake of the Woods Church.
Survivors include: his wife, of 60 years, Janet; son; Daniel J. (Cynthia) DeLozier;
Daughters: Jeannine R. (Ronald) Yaniga; Patricia R. (Harry) Rosnick; Susan L. Winski; Lesley A. (Dave) DeLozier; sister: Helen Ferree; 12 grandchildren; Jason Yaniga, Richard (Courtney)
Winski, Timothy Winski, Logan DeLozier-Varnum, Leah (James Ross, Audra (Alan) Battles, Betsy Rosnick, Lindsey Yaniga, Brianne Winski, Jessica DeLozier, Alexa DeLozier, Elena DeLozier-Varnum; 7 Great grandchildren; Bradley, Kyla, Aidan Ross, Elizabeth, Samuel Battles, Kendall Jacobson and Joaquin Reyes; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Also survived by his beloved pet Barney. He was preceded by his sisters Viola Gorr and Mary Carmack Miller.
Visitation will be held at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania, on Thurs. May 30, 2013 from 2 to 4 pm and also 6 to 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held at The Lake of the Woods Church, on Friday May 31, 2013 at 10 am with Rev. Thomas K. Schafer and Rev. Jim Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in the Laurel Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, family suggest contributions to the SPCA, 10819 Courthouse Rd.
