William Leon Thomas, 75, of Fredericksburg passed away Monday night, January 9, 2017 at Spotsylvania Regional Hospital with his family at his bedside. Leon was born to William Forrest and Effie Elizabeth (Parks) Thomas on November 28, 1941 in Wythe Co, Va. He had been employed as a hardware salesman for many years with Frederick Trading Company, of Frederick, MD. Leon married Bertie Lee Baldwin on October 10, 1960. After Leon retired, they moved to Fredericksburg in 1998. Leon enjoyed working in his yard and wood working. Making several projects for his home, but always leaving some small detail incomplete, as a personal joke. Survivors include his wife, Bertie; son, Stephen and wife Lisa; brother, Douglas Thomas, and sister Juanita Thomas Furr. Leon was preceded by a son, Michael Leon Thomas in 2002. Funeral services will be held at Laurel Hill Funeral Home on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 12 noon, with family receiving friends one hour before. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
